Dr. Moses Galukande, MMed, MSc, PhD, FSC
Dr. Moses Galukande is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He completed both a Bachelor’s and Surgery and Master of Medicine in Surgery at Makerere University. He is a founder fellow of the College of Surgeons in East Central & Southern Africa and pursued a Master of Science Health Professions Education at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Moses completed his PhD fellowship with Makerere University, Wolfson College at Cambridge University (Sanger Institute) as a Visiting Scholar. For this fellowship, he researched breast cancer among Ugandan women, their molecular subtypes, delays in diagnosis, risk factors and survival. His other research interests include trauma, access to health care, and health professions education.
Moses regularly supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate thesis research projects in general surgery and related disciplines. He is past chair of the Quality Assurance Committee for the Makerere College of Health Sciences. He oversees surgical services, education and research for international medical group. He is past Chair of the International Health Sciences University Council and current Council Chair of Clarke International University. He has published over 120 papers in peer reviewed journals on various aspects of surgery and medical education.
