Dr. Susan Lareau, MD

Dr. Susan Lareau is a Division Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Division’s Director, Dr. Lareau manages a group of physicians and midwives who provide obstetric care to faculty and clinic patients, and coordinates the merger of OB specialties and Family Practice to improve consistency of care. As the Associate Professor, she leads a hospital practice of 7 physicians and provides gynecologic and OB services to women in the Pittsburgh area. She is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, and a member of both the Alpha Omega Alpha society and Society of OBGYN Hospitalists.

Susan has done research on the role of diarrheal disease on the growth and development of children in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Among her many awarded achievements include the Third and Fourth Year Resident Teaching Awards, where Dr. Laureau was voted the best third and fourth year resident teacher by medical students. She was also awarded the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award as one of six awardees chosen among 1200 residents at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for excellence in teaching and mentoring medical students – the highest teaching award given to residents at the University of Pittsburgh.
